Well i don't like to say it but have not read many books this month as life has been busy. So many thoughts have come into my mind about what to write in this section. I watched Oprey the other day and it was an old show about the Secret and thought about what was said and like most other people who are just trying to live a good life, we have been doing the Secret all or most of our lives. Why do we have to have it confirmed by others before we realize it. I think the only thing we forget is that we are so busy helping others that we feel guilty about putting ourselves first. But I think that is gradually changing. But it seems every book we read today is telling the same story only in different scenarios. The book Course of Miracles has been saying it for years. It is like the Bible in so many ways that we pick it up, read it or bits of it and put it back down until we get the urge to seek it out of the book case again. Yet years ago, people sought it, studied it and then taught it. How many are out there teaching it now. None that i know of. I don't know if many today have read the book Journey Without Distance, the story of how Course of Miracles began. Written by Robert Skutch, co founder and director for Inner Peace. I found it a fascinating journey and made me understand the Course much better having read its foundations. The course (the book explains) was taken down over a seven year period by Dr Helen Schucman, a highly respected research psychologist, who heard the voice dictating the material to her. I found it interesting as she did not believe in the voices at first or where they come from, (a non- believer so to speak) and every time she tried to discontinue with the channeling the harder it was for her to concentrate on her every day life. In the end she gave in to the voices and dictated what was given to her as she new that the longer she put them off the longer it would take for her to continue life normally. It was when she met William N. Thetfird by coincidence did she, with his help were they able to get the scripts on paper to be published many years later. Although Helen did not want recognition for the channeling in case those that worked in her field would judge her or maybe disbelieve her. Helen had said to Bill, that she knew the Course was true, but she did not believe it. It changed all the lives of those that read the manuscripts and of course many more wanted to read it, so therefore was published and continues to be published today. So way back in the mid-sixties the Secret was already there, known by another name.
If you ever get the chance to read the story behind the Course in Miracles i think, no i am sure that like me you would enjoy it.
