This month , lighted up and go with the flow. Begin each day with deep breathing--inhale and then exhale to the sound of "Ahhhh" and repeat this for a minute or two. And when you are in stress full situations, remember to place your hands over your belly and chest and breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth. If possible, get a relaxing massage; if you can't, then take a bubble bath every night and stay in the tub long enough for you to unwind.
Imagine that you are an easy going person, even if this is new for you. You can be a beginner and still be calm. To fuel your new and enlightened self-image, watch movies with characters who stay calm and tranquil under pressure, such as The Pink Panther or Cool Hand Luke etc; -take notes, and imitate them. If you get into any ridiculous arguments, try to remember to back off and breathe. And if you are really brave, say "You win" and drop it. (i know this can be challenging, but it worth trying). But if you cant quite pull it off, don't worry about it. We are striving for progress, not mastery.
Name your inner control freak and figure out what brings her around; Fear? Insecurity, or Restlessness? get to know what your Inner self wants so that you can give it to her and cut her off at the pass. Take notes-- you will need them because you will forget what she said. Practice sensing tension in the air like an antelope, and move away from it instead of heading straight for it. remember to breathe as you do this, Also, go to bed early , secure in the knowledge that God is in control, not you. Sleep tight.
Practice tightly tensing your muscles; Hold them for ten seconds, then release them to restore calm. Start with your neck and shoulders and the muscles in your face. Tense, hold, release. Move to the muscles in your stomach, chest. and back. Tense, hold, release. Go to the muscles in your buttocks: tense, hold, release. Finally tense the muscles in your legs and feet: Tense, hold, release,. When you finish tensing all the muscles in your body, shake them out, as if you were a bowl of jelly, and let out a few belly sounds, such as "Ahhh or Ohhh". Repeat until you feel all the tension in your body drain away. Notice how much more aware you are when you are not tense. Enjoy.
